Overview

Responsibilities
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing servers and applications for all Canfisco U.S. group companies. Maintains Windows Server VMs by keeping them updated and replacing them when the OS is end of life, maintains the physical hardware the VMs run on, and ensures sufficient resources are in place. Owns and manages internal IT software systems. - Administers business applications, leads problem-solving efforts, assists on projects, resolves end user issues, and develops new system and application implementations. This role backs up the Network Administrator. Provides support outside of standard business hours. - Travels to remote seafood processing plants in Alaska to perform job tasks. - All members of the IT team take turns rotating after hours / weekend helpdesk coverage. - This position is exempt from overtime and reports to the IT Director. - The selected candidate may elect to work a hybrid schedule (some days from home and some from the office) or they may elect to work full time in the office. - Onsite presence is required for part of each week and may be required more frequently as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develops and maintains systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical systems.
  • Recommends upgrades, patches, new applications and equipment.
  • Supports internal and/or external networks as needed.
  • Develops tools, procedures, and training sessions for IT operations staff to assist with work.
  • Works to continuously improve processes and documentation.
  • Supports environment specific hardware and software platforms.
  • 24 x 7 on call response for urgent issues (rare occurrences).
  • Occasionally travels to remote seafood plants in Alaska to perform work.
  • Develops long-term professional working relationships with employees and vendors. Represents the company professionally and appropriately in interactions with others.
  • Maintains accurate, compliant and organized paper and electronic business records.
  • Stays current with system developments and recommends ways to take advantage of new systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of IT systems administration experience in a multi-location environment.
    • Experience with Windows Server 2008 and up, Exchange 2013, Microsoft 365.
    • Experience with VMWare, Hyper-V, SANs, and other related technologies.
    • Experience with Juniper/Junos OS, VPN's, Watchguard platforms and appliances, and Pulse Secure a plus.
    • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergent situations effectively.
    • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
    • Influential, collaborative, professional demeanor. Effective oral and written communications.
    • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to remote seafood processing plants with inherent hazards such as moving machinery, ammonia, wet floors, noise, forklift traffic, etc. Travel is often on small planes in inclement weather.
    • Ability to work long hours, seven days a week, when working at our seafood processing plants. This is the norm at seasonal seafood processing plants, not for the majority of the job performed in Seattle.
    • Ability and willingness to respond to urgent after hours issues (rare) and to cover the helpdesk after hours and on weekends (this is a rotational responsibility shared among all IT team members).
    • Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

      Additional Information:

      Payroll Information
      Pay periods are biweekly. - Our workday is defined as the calendar day, and our work week runs from Monday through Sunday. - Employees are paid on the Friday following the end of the biweekly pay period. - We encourage employees to sign up for direct deposit but you may elect to receive paper checks instead. -
