The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to
join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) Daybreak team in Kent, WA. We
are seeking a software engineering manager with agile leadership
knowledge to lead the software develop Agile Release Train (ART).
This leader should be passionate about space domain and motivated
to be part of a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering
environment that supports the design, development, and
implementation of software for Boeing built government space
products!
The position will help lead a large software development program,
including -15 direct reports, and be involve in creating software
product for world class, mission data processing products of raw
sensor data to provide operational products to customers. The
selected candidate will lead the agile team of teams (20-25
Software & Systems Engineers) that plan, commit, develop, and
deploy software together to deliver value to the program. Working
within an agile methodology using a CI/CD environment; integrated
with automated testing, vulnerability, & quality scanning
capabilities. The software team uses the Python language and
leverages artificial intelligence / machine learning concepts where
nearly any software skillset can be leveraged!
You will directly partner with customer counterparts and program
management to deliver the highest value capabilities, performing
demonstrations along the way. The candidate should possess
excellent communications skills and work well in a team environment
to support the needs of the Integrated Product Team (IPT). This
position requires proven experience within the software ecosystem,
a unique background of project management and agile software
experience and the clear exhibition of superior judgment and
decision making. Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills are
required.

Position Responsibilities:
--- Manage staffing needs and grow the skills/capabilities of the
organization
--- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and
partners, provide oversight of technical approaches, products and
processes
--- Oversee the management of multiple Scrum Teams
--- Coach team members and stakeholders in SAFe and Agile
practices
--- Facilitate scaled agile processes for the software team,
including PI planning, ART syncs/Scrum of Scrums, reviews,
retrospectives, and product demos
--- Remove or escalate impediments to flow and promote a culture of
continuous improvement
--- Assist in the development and maintenance of PI Roadmaps and
Program Vision
--- Determines critical skills within an organization or functional
area; develops and implements staffing plans to ensure necessary
skills are available within the company
--- Develops and motivates employees
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate
will be required to work onsite in Kent, WA.
This position requires customer acceptance of an active Top
Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that
has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
--- Active Top Security/SCI with ability to complete CI (Counter
Intelligence) polygraph after employment start is required /
post-start
--- 3+ years' experience in the Software Development lifecycle
(including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration &
Test)
--- 3+ years working with Agile methodologies
--- 1+ years of experience in managing or leading a team in the
software development discipline
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
--- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study
in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing
engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data
science, or computer science
--- Experience as an Agile Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer
using the Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework
--- Experience in team building, leading cross-functional teams,
motivating and engaging team members, and inspiring work groups
through daily interactions
--- Experience with space-based technologies including knowledge of
system interactions and standards
--- SAFe Agile certifications including SPC, Scrum Master, Release
Train Engineer, etc
--- Experience with satellite ground mission capabilities
--- Experience at successfully leading and/or managing as part of a
complex IPT to produce results within budget, on schedule, and to
performance requirements
--- Experience using GitLab
--- Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in
delivering quality software
--- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C,
C++, and MATLAB
--- Demonstrated ability to facilitate large planning and
solutioning sessions
Travel: Less than 10%

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well
as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $141,950 - $192,050
