Position Description The City of Seattle is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Web Developer in the Ethics and Elections Commission . The Ethics and Elections Comsission (SEEC) is an independent City Commission that administers the Ethics, Elections, Lobbying, and Whistleblower Protection Codes by providing advice and training to City employees and investigating allegations of wrongdoing. We are looking for a talented professional who has a passion for service, community, and technology to join our exciting team! Job Responsibilities The Web Developer will assist with the development, management and use of the SEEC's Website and internal Web applications in a .NET/SQL Server environment. Duties may include development, troubleshooting and testing of new features; responding to routine Web user problems; troubleshooting and resolving Web application and/or Web coding-specific problems; and perform various web tasks or projects commensurate to professional level as assigned. The Web Developer will also take a significant role as the lead user of the SEEC's internal Web applications to audit and code data from campaign finance reports eFiled by Seattle political campaigns. The successful candidate must be service-oriented with strong interpersonal and analytical skills as well as strong organization, planning, problem-solving, numeric analysis, and decision-making skills. Qualifications The minimum requirements to perform the work are: Proficiency in TSQL, VB.NET/VBScript, or similar programming languages. Experience in working with Web-based API's and Web Services. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Knowledge of software development methodologies, more Agile than Waterfall. Experience in application development, coding and/or testing. The most qualified candidates demonstrate: Ability to manage and troubleshoot legacy classic ASP applications, occasionally. An aptitude for learning new tools and technologies quickly. Strong oral and written communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical staff or customers. Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines, use good judgment and discretion, and interact with diverse workforce within the City and other agencies throughout the region. Ability to be innovative, resourceful and reliable. A history of working well in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented environment. Self-direction, organization and the ability to maintain high levels of production.
