Global Planning and Retail Engineering supports mission critical systems used by Starbucks stores across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Our highly diverse and talented team plays a key role in providing IT services and solutions to our partners, stores, and customers. In this role, you will contribute to Starbucks success by bringing together user needs and business strategy to deliver solutions aligned with our top strategic initiatives. You will interact with various IT and business stakeholder groups in a highly collaborative manner using agile development methodology. To be successful you should have experience in designing system and process solutions supporting business objectives across a global user base, with a relentless commitment to delivering innovative, quality work while supporting the effectiveness and growth of our team and modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Solution Delivery - Collaborates and supports project initiation efforts in definition of project scope and development of work plans, estimates, and timelines - Proactively identifies and objectively assesses system and process improvement opportunities - Works effectively within an agile scrum framework, collaborating with teammates to drive design and development of technology and business process solutions - Supports requirements elicitation, user story creation, and backlog refinement, working closely with product owners, scrum masters and development teams - Leverages subject matter expertise and experience to support team members and product owners in defining solution options - Participates in iterative solution design and prototyping efforts utilizing user-centric design techniques; supports application configuration activities - Supports engagement needs of the team for unplanned, new and changing business priorities Production Support - Leverages system and process expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting complex system/user issues to drive resolution and determine root cause - Supports issue resolution efforts across peer support groups and technical support teams, and vendors as required - Effectively coordinates and communicates issue resolution with end-users - Correlates related production issues and assesses trends to identify broader improvement opportunities - Extends technology support internationally to support global business operations Coordination/Leadership - Effectively facilitates/negotiates through challenging situations - Interfaces across organizational levels comfortably, facilitating alignment within and outside the team - Leads and influences groups through effective decision making - Supports development of less-experienced analysts through coaching and mentoring - Supports team building and drives internal process improvement efforts - Translates broader organization strategies and objectives to technology solutions Summary of Experience - Relevant functional/business process experience (5 years) - Solution design, testing, and implementation experience (4 years) - Applicable application and system configuration experience (4 years) - Production support, system maintenance, upgrades, and enhancement delivery experience (5 years) - End user support and documentation experience (5 years) Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Experience using agile development methodology - Experience in user centric design of design of system solutions - Strong business acumen that drives solution development meeting business goals - Strong business process design skills with the ability to drive process improvement initiatives - Skilled in system development methodologies throughout the full project lifecycle - Strong analytic and problem-solving skills; knowledge of SQL and use of ad-hoc database query tools for data analysis and troubleshooting system issues preferred - Knowledge of REST API and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) practices and applications - Strong oral and written communication skills - Knowledge of retail business, inventory practices and accounting preferred - Knowledge of effective testing practices and methodologies - Ability to design and deploy highly reliable and scalable global technology solutions - Ability to objectively assess benefits, costs, and viability of proposed solution options - Ability to influence and gain the support of key stakeholders - Ability to build and maintain relationships/partnerships with business customers and technical resources - Ability to support the efforts of others, build knowledge and expertise within the team - Ability to work effectively in a self-directed manner, managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and driving issues to resolution - Ability to collaborate and drive consensus across a diverse group of customers with conflicting priorities Starbucks and its brands are an equal opportunity employer of all qualified individuals, including minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities.
