Build professional relationships with students and parents and/or guardians that facilitate successful outcomes. Essential Functions: Instruction: (During school year instruction is 25% of time, during summer session instruction is 80% of time). Provide direct instruction in some or all of the following depending upon need: career exploration, college navigation, soft skills, job readiness, career-specific hard skills, and life skills. Assist in developing curriculum material. Develop and teach workshops from approved curriculum. Assist with the development of activities and/or workshops to increase parental participation in the education of the student. Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents. Academic Guidance: (During school year academic guidance is 40% of time, during summer academic guidance is 10% of time) Assess each student's stage of academic development post high-school and promote student growth by determining suitable developmental tasks. Monitor academic progress of students and advise students attending college certificate/degree programs; determine eligibility and satisfactory progress toward their credentials; identify current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g., study skills, tutoring) and find appropriate resources for the student. Serve as a liaison between Goodwill and community/technical college partners. Support Case Manager/Academic Advisor in developing and revising an individual educational plan for each youth and document their progress, including any important milestones, as they matriculate through their college year and into a career. Share student's educational progress and identified concerns and needs with college employment navigators on a quarterly basis. Support the college employment navigators with finding appropriate employment for student based on these needs Administrative Support: (During school year program support is 35% of time, during summer program support is 10%) Coordinate with other community organizations to develop service learning projects and other hands-on learning and work opportunities for the youth. Plan for student meals and arrange special field trips Assist with outreach to recruit youth into the program annually. Assist with the intake, assessment, and selection process annually. Work collaboratively with program staff to ensure open channels of communication with parents and students are maintained during the school year and beyond; participate in staff meetings. Present special lectures, seminars, and workshops as requested. Work on special projects as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Job Requirements: Education: Minimum Associates Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Science or field related to program sector. Or two years' experience working in related field. Experience: Two years' experience working with high school students, in coordinating partnership with schools, parents and community organizations, data collection and reporting and youth academic program development, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience working with multi-cultural youth who are experiencing multiple barriers to economic and educational success. Specific Skills/Knowledge/Licenses: Experience working and/or training in the program's industry sector is highly desired. Bilingual skills a plus. Ability to handle confidential information. Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new software as needed. Must be flexible and have the ability to work in an environment with very diverse groups of people. Must have valid WA State driver's license and clean driving record. Must be able to drive large vehicles (12-15-passenger vans) Essential Physical Abilities: Able to safely lift/push/ pull up to 25 lbs., grasp, handle, finger and manipulate items; perform repetitive fine motor functions with fingers, wrists and arms, standing for long periods of time. Able to communicate with others effectively, verbally and in writing; including those who have limited English skills, large and small groups, and individuals. Essential Mental/Sensory Abilities: Strong listening skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Multi-tasking Time Management Negotiation Data Skills Accuracy Complex Problem Solving Critical Thinking Working Conditions: Office/classroom environment; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires some travel to other locations for offsite meetings and events. Proficiency with Experience: Skilled (demonstrates ample knowledge and skills of duties, with 1-3 years of experience).
