BGS in Kent, WA is searching for a Network Designer to join the
Boeing Global SATCOM Communications team.
Perform Network Operations duties supporting the BGSS Network
Operations Center (NOC) and Data Center.
Primary duties will include operational support of network
devices, satellite communications equipment and data center
Network devices include Cisco routers and switches.
Satellite communication control functions require experience and
understanding of IP network and broadband RF network.
This includes being knowledgeable in the implementation of the
OSI and/or TCP/IP Reference Model and the TMN Reference Model.
A complete understanding of FCAPS is required.
The satellite communications hardware and software systems
undergo continuous block upgrades and development.
The network analyst duties include supporting the successful
integration of all satellite, WAN and ground-based functions with
the Data Center and BGSS NOC.
Will be required to work together with multiple Boeing and
non-Boeing organizations and provide outstanding customer
All aspects of FCAPS for the production system will be
monitored, maintained, and problem resolved by this position.
Off-hour, including nights, weekends and holidays (7x24x365)
support is required. Some travel may be required.
Specific Position Responsibilities:
Requires network design, implementation and production network
operations and data center support experience.
The ability to monitor and control the Satellite Communication
consoles, WAN circuits, Switches, Routers, Servers, Processes and
Applications is a major portion of this position.
Network security device experience is also important.
Requires full practitioner network education and experience.
This includes Cisco network devices as well as Windows, MacOS
and UNIX (Solaris, Linux) based operating systems and server
Experience with network change management, configuration
management, trouble resolution and operational network management
processes and tools are required.
Network tool experience should include SolarWinds and other NMS
and EMS tools used to monitor and manage communication
Security experience required: Basic understanding of firewalls
(Packet Filter and Application Proxy), intrusion detection, and
network routing and switch techniques.
Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and

Minimum of 1 year experience configuring Cisco network
Minimum of 1 year experience with Network Traffic Monitoring or
Security Information Event Monitor (SIEM)
Experience with satellite communications
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced
technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years'
related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical
education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work
