Job Description:
COMPANY seeks a dynamic, mission-driven operational leader as
its next Chief Development Officer (CDO). They will serve as a
member of the President/CEO's senior leadership team providing
strategic and tactical leadership in financial development to
advance the Association's mission, vision, and goals and lead the
financial development center of excellence for COMPANY. The CDO
establishes development strategies and best practices for COMPANY
and fosters a culture of philanthropy within the organization. The
CDO will lead the development and building of an actively engaged
and effective fundraising community comprised of board members,
volunteers, and staff. The CDO will position the COMPANY as an
anchor provider of community solutions and charity of choice for
social impact investment throughout the Greater Seattle
community.We are seeking a proven fundraiser and strategic thinker
who can translate strategy to execution and results, direct change
management, and excited to build relationships with the donor
community with ease. They will be comfortable motivating,
communicating, and influencing at all levels and in a multitude of
environments. This executive will operate with the highest levels
of integrity, honesty, and personal standards and
ethics.ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities-----Partner with the
senior leadership team to lead the organization into the future,
through organizational design, culture, innovation, process
improvement, and strong financial oversight-----Develop and
implement comprehensive, centralized Association financial
development systems, practices, plans, and programs, including
campaigns, foundation and corporate grants, major gift program,
planned giving, and capital development, which result in the
achievement of Association goals-----Ensure that philanthropy and
fund development are carried out in keeping with the Y's values,
mission, and vision-----Provide leadership, vision, and direction
to increase, diversify, and sustain COMPANY's donor
base-----Establish and maintain a best-in-class centralized grants
program (Including corporate, foundation, and other grants) and
robust pipeline of grant opportunities from prospecting, reporting,
renewal, and compliance and grow it into a significant component of
recurring unearned revenue for COMPANY to meet its financial
objectives.-----Develop and maintain a best-in-class donor
engagement, stewardship, and care program to sustain existing
donors.-----Develop and maintain a best-in-class planned giving
program and grow it into a significant component of recurring
unearned revenue for COMPANY to meet its financial
objectives.-----Serve as a major gift officer and direct and
oversee the major gift fundraising of the organization, ensuring
the cultivation and securing major level gifts ($100,000 plus) from
key community members, foundations, corporations, and other sources
in support of strategic objectives; assuring outcomes are achieved
and reported.-----Hire, supervise, train, evaluate, and motivate
development staff and others.-----Direct the management of the
Association's capital campaign, ensuring work with top level
volunteers, donors, and staff which result in the achievement of
the campaign goals.-----Evaluate the effect of internal and
external influences on the Y and its fund development, recommending
short- and long-range fund development plans and programs that
support our values, mission, and general objectives.-----Serve as
primary staff liaison to the Development Committee and other
assigned committees of the Board of Directors and other key
committees facilitating optimum interaction between management and
volunteers.-----Develop and implement, in collaboration with the
SLT, development strategies resulting in significant volunteer and
staff involvement, representative of all communities, at all levels
of financial development.-----Contribute to the evaluation of and
adjustments to the sustainable business model from a financial
development perspective.-----Present to various Committees, Elected
Officials, Funders, Stakeholders, Board of Directors, and the
President & CEO, as requested.-----Strengthen the Y's culture by

in the communityDesired Skills & Experience--- Bachelor's degree in
business administration, financial development, communications,
public relations, human services, or equivalent (Master's degree
preferred)--- Minimum ten years' experience in financial
development with emphasis on major gifts, annual giving, foundation
and corporate grants, capital development, planned giving, and
volunteer development for the COMPANY or other large non-profit
organization--- Minimum ten years' experience in successfully
attracting, managing and developing a team of direct and indirect
high performers--- Minimum five years working successfully on a
cross-functional leadership team responsible for overall direction
and achievement of organizational wide results in collaboration
with a Board of Directors and board committees--- Capacity to plan
for today while simultaneously preparing for the future---
Experience directly preparing and delivering materials and
presentations on controversial or complex topics that influence
decision makers at high levels of foundations, government,
community organizations, corporations, and across diverse
communities--- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of
people from all social and economic segments of the community;
