Nordstrom's People Analytics team focuses on using organizational research, data science, and data analysis techniques to uncover employee and organizational insights that contribute to Nordstrom's long-term success. The Data Scientist 2 will focus on organizational research and data analysis techniques to uncover employee insights that contribute to Nordstrom's long-term success. The individual is a talented internal researcher/consultant who partners and provides consultation to their stakeholders and is passionate about using data and organization theories to drive business decisions at all levels. In this role, the individual will be expected to both be hands-on with the data, partner with data scientists, and be able to communicate the results in a way that builds confidence and enables decisions that drive business value. Typical responsibilities include: Partner with leaders and colleagues across other functions to ensure alignment of research & analyses with other human capital initiatives and enterprise strategies. Identify new opportunities to perform research and analytics to address known and unknown Design and implement innovative and pragmatic research, data science, and analytics that will drive focus toward improving the employee experience, engagement, performance, and business decisions. Use your statistical and experimentation skills to predict Flight Risk of our high performers, uncover KPI drivers to support action, predict productivity killers and how to mitigate them, and other valuable intelligence. Provide actionable recommendations based on internal and external research and analytics. Champion a data-driven culture, by educating cross-functional HR partners and business leaders on the value and effective usage of people analytics and insights. Collaborate effectively with other team members to build end-to-end products that support your group of stakeholders. Help drive the People Analytics team strategy to the next level of analytics, and workforce Who You Are: You are driven, solution- and results-oriented, conscientious, and a team player. You are able to translate complex thinking and projects by breaking them into specific, understandable goals, tactics, action plans, and deliverables. You have experience utilizing employee survey and sentiment data to drive action planning, and to expand or round out deeper analyses. Qualifications: M.S./Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Social Psychology or related discipline (Ph.D. in I/O Psychology preferred) 3-5 years of relevant work experience Strong in research methodology, statistics, and data analysis Proficient in using Excel, statistical tools (e.g., R, KNIME, Python), and general data architecture and data visualization Experience performing cluster analyses, factor analyses, regression models, SEM, and longitudinal studies. Experience managing projects Preferred experience performing research and analytics on corporate employees, including engineers, leadership, organizational structures, and other professional type roles.
