Harris Group is seeking a dynamic leader to fill the role of Electrical Discipline Supervisor in our Seattle, Washington office.

In this supervisory level role, you will be responsible for leading a team of Engineers and Designers to develop detailed design documents and lead multiple projects primarily in design of power distribution, motor control, lighting, and grounding systems for industrial, port, and manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing assignments. This involves exploration of discipline requirements, definition of scope, selection of problems for investigations, and development of concepts and approaches. Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision of local discipline staff including working with Project Managers and project lead engineers on staff performance, workload leveling, approving weekly timesheets, and sharing of resources.
  • Define, organize, execute, and coordinate engineering assignments.
  • Provides training, and mentoring on technical matters, company procedures and policies, regulatory and code requirements as well as guidance on professional development.
  • Serve as a technical resource on complex designs and advanced engineering theories, concepts, and principles for Low Voltage and Medium Voltage installations.
  • Lead a team of engineers and designers to prepare single-line diagrams, schematics, power plans, grounding plans and installation detail drawings.
  • Develop equipment and construction specification documents.
  • Model and conduct power systems analyses (short circuit, load flow, protective relay coordination and arc flash analysis).
  • Direct and review the development of lighting layouts and lighting control system designs.
  • Act as engineer of record for the production of electrical permit and construction packages.
  • Interface with key client and project staff in formal, informal and project team meetings.
  • Participate in field investigations and provide construction support.
  • Provide clients with assistance during installation, commissioning and start-up of equipment and related systems..

Requirements

B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of electrical design experience in the design of power distribution, lighting, and grounding systems for industrial, manufacturing or chemical process facilities preferred.

  • PE required.
  • In-depth working knowledge and application of the electrical discipline, including codes, standards, and design theory in applicable industries.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply electrical engineering techniques commonly used in industrial capital projects.
  • Ability to identify, interpret and apply relevant codes and standards to engineering designs, including the NEC, ANSI, IEEE, and non-residential energy codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Easy Power or SKM power system modeling, AGi32 or Visual lighting software a plus.
  • Demonstrated capability with AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location and accept client site assignments when required.
  • Ability to pass Client badging and screening processes.
