We are looking for an experienced, innovative Sr Manager, Data Engineering. In this role, you will work with internal customers at all levels of different organization - Operations, Planning and Performance, HR, Technology, Operational Research, Health & Safety, and many others. The potential candidate will enjoy the challenges and rewards of working in a fast-growing organization and at a global scale to develop and support the data, reporting, analytical and technologies that give our teams flexible and structured access to their data, including implementation of a data platform, managing org level data infrastructure, innovate and bring in new technologies, establish data architecture for data platforms, etc. You are a good fit for this position if you are an excellent communicator, knowledgeable about data engineering, AWS, business intelligence, comfortable in a fast moving organization and excited about growing the careers of engineers.

  • End to end ownership of a data engineering team, including gathering inputs from leadership and partner teams, roadmap planning and prioritization, promoting best practices, and hiring, mentoring and developing your team
  • Establishing and leading solutions across multiple teams. Lead data and automation instrumentation during the development lifecycle for new products and services
  • Drive development of tools, automation, and new innovative and insightful reports
  • Support the whole AIR org and all orgs work or supporting Amazon AIR orgs with data and analytical needs

This position is looking for a strong leader with experience managing a team of 10 + employees. The ideal candidate will have experience across typical data warehouse management, cloud computing, data architecture design for data platform and software etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, related technical field or equivalent work experience
  • Hands on experience using databases and related technologies in a fast-paced business environment with large-scale and complex datasets
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift, EMR, Athena, S3 and other AWS technologies
  • Experience with R, Python, or another scripting languages
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and framework, Project management experience, working with technology and product managers to drive technology roadmaps
  • 7 years of experience managing engineering teams that building and managing BI architecture, data warehouse, cloud computing products, data platforms
  • 15 years of relevant engineering and people management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as math, computer science, engineering, finance, statistics
  • Strong business and technical vision
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, prioritize, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet timelines with optimal solutions
  • Ability to drive cross-functional teams to implement scalable solutions, delivering multiple projects to agreed deadlines
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise
  • Professional experience in software development (software design and development life cycle)
