What you'll be doing...
At Tableau, we are on a mission to help people see and
understand data. We create intuitive and powerful analytics
software that enables thousands of leading organizations and
millions of people around the world to find insights in their data.
The Data Management product team is building a new business for
Tableau that focuses on helping people discover, prepare, trust,
and govern their data. We are looking for a talented product
manager who is excited about shaping and driving a startup-like new
business within a larger company.
In the role of a Senior Product Manager on the Data Governance
and Security team, you will be a leader in enabling our customers
to govern data access effectively within the Tableau platform. You
will drive the strategy and requirements for user facing
capabilities in one of the most strategically important new
initiatives in Tableau product development. You will also be
shaping a platform that is critical for many new products in
In this role, you will work closely with a very talented team of
engineers, product managers and designers to drive the best
solutions for our customers. You will build close relationships
with strategic customers and the sales team and combine that with
your strong analytical skills to develop a deep understanding of
customers' needs in data governance. Through your creative thinking
and tight collaboration with your peers in software engineering and
design, you will be a champion for making our customers successful
with improvements in our product experience.
Some of the things you'll be doing include...
Help define product vision, strategy and roadmap for advancing
Tableau Data Governance and Data Security capabilities
Prioritize features and deliver functional specifications with
Work extensively with engineering teams to scope, prioritize and
drive feature implementation.
Present Tableau product capabilities, vision, value
propositions, and roadmap briefings to customers, prospects, the
Tableau sales team, and at public events.
Collaborate with strategic customers as a Tableau trusted
advisor to ensure their success, manage escalations, requirements
analysis and product planning activities.
Collaborate with product marketing on positioning, messaging,
and go-to-market strategies.
Build strong partnerships across Tableau and Salesforce to
identify opportunities to improve our products.
Ensure the rest of the company has visibility into product plans
Communicating product strategies and tradeoffs at the executive
- Champion our culture and values.
Who you are...
Customer-focused. You love speaking with customers and learning
more about their use cases. You are great at separating the true
"jobs to be done" from a customer's request and using that to drive
effective product enhancements.
Experienced. This role is for someone with at least three years
of experience in product management in the software industry.
Effective prioritizer. You know how to balance many competing
priorities from customers and stakeholders and keep priorities in
order for smooth operations.
Technically Savvy. You have worked on complex technical products
in the past and are comfortable with topics like: database design,
complex SQL queries, product integration and API design
Self-starter. You are intrinsically motivated and gifted at
driving projects from start to finish.
An Evangelist. You are comfortable presenting priorities to
internal stakeholders, customers, partners, and analysts.
Communicator. You are skilled at communicating both business and
technical topics to diverse audiences.
Educated. You have at least a bachelor's degree (or the
equivalent) in computer science or another relevant field.
