Sr Product Manager - Tech, AWS Identity

Company: Amazon.com, Inc.
Location: Seattle
Posted on: June 12, 2021

Job Description:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides developers and their organizations with foundational web services and products that enable them to innovate faster and to operate their software more cost effectively. AWS Identity teams are building secure identity, authentication, authorization, and governance systems for the AWS Cloud. Our products provide the core authentication and authorization technologies used to access all AWS services (such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and Amazon DynamoDB) and help customers meet their security requirements.

AWS has the most services and more features within those services, than any other cloud provider-from infrastructure technologies like compute, storage, and databases-to emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, data lakes and Internet of Things. Whether its Identity features such as access management and sign on, cryptography, console, builder & developer tools, and even projects like automating all of our contractual billing systems, AWS Platform is innovating with the customer in mind. The AWS Platform team sustains over 750 million transactions per second.

As a senior product manager, you will drive our strategy, product roadmap, and outbound messaging for products that allow companies to operate at scale on AWS. For example, you will own the vision for API Throttling for AWS, a critical requirement for customers to scale their AWS workloads. Internally, you will define best practices for AWS service teams and build tooling for traffic analysis and shaping. You will also drive the launch of new foundational features that simplify operation at scale for AWS service teams. You will have end-to-end product responsibility from working with key internal customers to making roadmap tradeoffs to delivering revolutionary new features and functionality that improve experience for end-customers.

The successful candidate will form a strategy that gets to the core of what customers value, set priorities that move that strategy forward, and exert influence to align diverse stakeholders. Candidates should enjoy working in a collaborative, analytical, and fast-paced environment and be comfortable interacting with highly technical cross-functional teams. Candidates dive deep into data, have strong writing skills, and be comfortable leading executive-level reviews. This is a highly strategic position that will impact the direction of AWS identity going forward.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the leadership team to set strategy, define the product, and make appropriate high-judgment trade-offs between features and speed-to-launch
  • Use case prioritization, feature definition, ownership of the product roadmap, and customer segmentation
  • Engage with service owners and partner teams to identify integration opportunities and drive product initiatives
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here, which is why we aren't focused on how many hours you spend at work or online. Instead, we're happy to offer a flexible schedule so you can have a more productive and well-balanced life-both in and outside of work.

We have a formal mentor search application that lets you find a mentor that works best for you based on location, job family, job level etc. Your manager can also help you find a mentor or two, because two is better than one. In addition to formal mentors, we work and train together so that we are always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.

Work/Life Balance

Our team puts a high value on work-live balance. It isn't about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it's about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
