Universal Cells, an affiliate of Astellas located in Seattle, WA, is focused on the development and commercialization of stem cell and regenerative medicine therapies. Universal Cells (UCI) is announcing a Research Associate II Core Technologies, Vector Production opportunity at their facility in Seattle, WA.

Purpose:

We are seeking a highly capable, self-motivated Research Associate II for our Core Technologies Department. This individual will contribute to the further molecular engineering for our gene edited Universal Donor Cells. They will work as a key member on a fast-paced team to assist with Adeno-Associated Virus production and the development and execution of molecular assays to characterize our proprietary gene edited cells.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

* Performing plasmid DNA isolation and producing Adeno-Associate Virus under controlled conditions following SOPs and with detailed real-time documentation. * Routinely performing standard molecular biology techniques including primer design, molecular cloning, gDNA isolation, PCR, and Sanger sequence analysis. * Compile, analyze, and summarize data; be able to present data in both oral and written formats. * Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and think critically about experiments and results * Self-motivated with good time management and communication skills. * Team player; working effectively with various team members and other departments. * Keen organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate and up to date records

Organizational Context:

* Reports to Director of Core Technologies * As part of a busy team, with minimal guidance, this role will work on multiple components of projects in the lab, interacting with multiple functions and research groups. Collaboration and teamwork are necessary for optimal performance.

Qualifications:

Required:

* BS with 3 + or an MS with 0-2 years of experience in a related scientific discipline * Extensive experience with aseptic mammalian cell culture and molecular cloning. * Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and think on your feet.

Preferred:

* Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices and working within Quality Systems * Experience with AAV production * Experience running Southern blots * Radiation safety certification (P-32)
