Technology Sales Manager (TSM) reports to the Director of
Technology and manages both the field based and inside technology
sales group in all their capacities. The TSM is responsible for
managing sales of the designated technology sales portfolio and
achieving the sales goals of the group. The TSM is expected to
build an annual sales plan, have input on operational costs,
go-to-market strategies and work with the technology product
managers. The TSM is expected to consult with distribution sales to
evaluate current customer’s business practices and make strategic
recommendations to the customer about the integration of Patterson
technologies with their current practice system’s
- Management – The
TSM will oversee the day-to-day activities of the TS field based
team and ISR team based out of the Patterson Technology Center
(PTC). This includes all PVS HR requirements, individual sales
achievement plans and recommendations on job duties, discipline and
hiring. The TSM will carry out regular reviews and establish
- Product and
market knowledge – The TSM is expected to have extensive knowledge
of the veterinary technology market especially in regards to all
competitors of Patterson technology offerings. The TSM will
maintain a competitive grid of the market place including pricing
and product feature sets. The TSM will work with Director of
Technology and product team on pricing strategy and go-to-market
strategies for technology portfolio offerings.
- Reporting – the
TSM will complete all activity and sale reports as required by the
Director of Technology. Establish short-term and long-term metrics
for departmental goals and implementation of the enterprise sales
and new business development strategy.
- Sales planning –
The TSM will help complete an annual sales plan for technology
products, establish sales goals, work on the team compensation
plan, create an annual sale plan to accomplish final budget goals
and track the sales plan to budget and forecast
planning – The TSM will be responsible for successful technology
sales operations. This includes sales, order fulfillment,
installation, training, HR and support as they relate to the
product sales team. The TSM is expected to successfully work with
their counterpart in other PVS departments to ensure these
operations are successful.
- Comp plans,
pricing and promotions – The TSM is expected to design and monitor
compensation plans with the HR and technology team, work to
understand product margins and conditions to set product pricing
and also comprehend financial margins to help set product
- Work with
distribution sales – A key component of success for the TSM will be
working with the distribution sales team. This includes successful
relationships with Branch Managers, establishing protocols and
requirements between the TS and TM teams, adding value to the
distribution sales of PVS, the opening of new PVS accounts through
technology sales and discovering the best “added value” methodology
for the TS and TM teams to cooperate.
- Work with
marketing –The TSM will coordinate activities with the marketing
department to ensure that technology sales and marketing goals are
aligned. The TSM will advise marketing on tactical considerations
to increase qualified leads and marketing ROI for the technology
- Work with
product managers –The TSM will work closely with product managers
on the technology products in the sales portfolio to provide
guidance and customer feedback. The TSM is expected to advise the
product managers on strategic developments to gain market
development- The TSM will work with and advise the Director of
Technology on the overall strategic direction of the Patterson
development – The TSM will create and execute a training and
professional development plan for the TS team.
- Develops and
maintains professional relationships with branch managers,
territory managers, customers, vendors and other Company
- Collaborate with
the PTC to resolve software and service issues as
participate in, and support meetings and activities (technology
events and marketing activities), as requested by the
