Overview *An additional $2 will be added to certain positions that have direct contact with clients between now and April 30th 2021, additional information will be provided during interviewing process* Program Description St. Martin de Porres Shelter provides safe and dignified night shelter for homeless men age 50 and older. The shelter opened in October of 1984 in respond to the growing need for an emergency shelter for this special population of elderly men who are vulnerable to the weather, street predators and illness. Position Description The Lead Floor Monitor assigns these duties to the Floor Monitors (and him or herself), connects with day staff, provides guidance to staff and volunteers in completing their duties, and provides leadership in crisis intervention or other issues during the shift. $17.83+ DOE per hour. Full-time position with medical, dental, and vision insurance, and generous paid leave.-- Responsibilities Major Responsibilities

  • Monitor shelter throughout shift responding to any crisis situations.
  • Refer Shelter Residents to appropriate social services agencies for assistance.
  • Intake Residents for Respite Program.
  • Work with Resident volunteers to ensure all Respite shift tasks are completed.
  • Assist in transportation of Shelter Residents from Shelter bus line to Shelter.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Shift Supervisor. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
    • Sensitivity to homeless people and their situation.
    • Work history that demonstrates reliability and dependability.
    • Work or volunteer history that demonstrates ability to interact and communicate with others.
    • Understanding the disease of alcoholism and other substance abuse issues.
    • Support and uphold the mission, beliefs and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
    • Support and contribute to a creative, collaborative and respectful environment that promotes teamwork.
    • Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
