This role will also be responsible for planning and managing all millwright direct labor, subcontractors and ensuring the safe execution of mechanical work activities on the project.. Requirements:Millwright Superintendent Essential duties and Responsibilities:Staffing and Equipment

  • Coordinate field staffing of assigned projects with Vice President of Operations. Increase and decrease staffing to meet project needs while optimizing profitability and assisting the Vice President of Operations in personnel re-assignment.
  • Interview and hire local field personnel within boundaries of project budget.
  • Identify and train foreman and key site individuals on the project.
  • Enforce strict discipline on the jobsite with respect to safety and workplace practices as defined in Phoenix policies and project requirements.
  • Prepare and submit time records to the office in accordance with Phoenix procedures and schedules.
  • Select tools and major equipment required to best execute the work. Ensure they are properly identified as Phoenix property, that they are properly used and maintained.
  • Prepare rigging and millwright plans for major lifts and endeavor to make the most cost effective use of all lifting equipment.
  • Aligns and positions machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs. Tests machines and equipment and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Dismantles and assembles machinery or equipment using various methods.Millwright Superintendent Project Execution
    • Thoroughly understand the scope of work, specifications, and drawings on assigned projects.
    • Prepare a labor plan and weekly project work plan.
    • Identify out of scope work and follow Phoenix procedures to record, obtain approval, and execute the extra work.
    • Endeavor to execute the work in a more efficient and profitable manner than contemplated in the estimate.
    • Plan site layout for efficient execution of the work including support facilities, storage areas, and work access ways.
    • Plan ahead for sufficient material and equipment resources for efficient and economical installation.
    • Prepare and submit project reports and maintain files in accordance with Phoenix procedures.
    • Implement quality control practices in accordance with the project quality control plan.
    • Maintain a daily diary or log of work activities, meetings, and significant conversations or verbal directions.
    • Maintain close contact and good working relationship with customer representatives.
    • Complete including punch lists and rectify and project deficiencies.
    • Regular travel though out the US is required.Business Development
      • Attend assigned job walks and pre-bid meetings.
      • Develop labor and material take-offs for estimates.
      • Solicit subcontract, equipment, and material pricing to satisfy project requirements for bids and estimates.
      • Participate in review of the potential project, the estimate, and the bid letter with Phoenix management.
      • Be knowledgeable of Phoenix Health and Safety Program and project specific regulations and enforce in the field.
      • Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in pre-award interviews and discussions with potential customers.Safety
        • Hold valid first aid and supervisor training certificates.
        • Conduct daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
        • Review and approve SWPs for assigned projects.
        • Conduct and record regular safety inspections on assigned projects.
        • Promptly and accurately complete investigations and reports on all near misses and all personal injury or property damage accidents.Millwright Superintendent QUALIFICATIONS
          • Demonstrated knowledge of methods of construction practices and project execution.
          • Training and practical knowledge of construction trades.
          • Must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
          • Must have excellent communication skills and related team-building skills required to instruct, motivate, and manage field employees and to communicate effectively with customers.

          • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance in accordance with project and company work hours.
          • Must be able to travel and complete extended assignments in the field away from home with limited opportunity to travel home.Millwright Superintendent EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in construction related major and 8 years experience in construction field work or 5 construction trade work and 5 years experience in leading piping crews.LANGUAGE, MATH AND COMPUTER SKILLS
            • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CPM schedules, industry standards, project communications and related documents including project specifications, test reports, and project related accounting reports.
            • Ability to effectively write and communicate through email and written letter correspondence.
            • Ability to effectively communicate in client meetings and crew meetings.
            • Basic computer skills needed for spreadsheet, word processing and email correspondence.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
              • Ability to perform heavy manual labor for short periods outdoors and in inclement weather.
              • Ability to climb ladders, operate a forklift, and use hand tools.
              • Ability to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.
              • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
              • Ability to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
              • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds unassisted.
              • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
