COVID Vaccine Ambassador ? Posting #21493

Position Summary:

Full-time temporary position available immediately for our Medical Clinic in Puyallup. This position will provide ongoing outreach to communities impacted by COVID-19, with high emphasis in reaching out to Black, Brown, and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and immigrants and refugees. Ambassadors will disseminate clear, consistent, and culturally responsive information about the vaccine and facilitate communication between the community, public health, and community service providers, to remove barriers to access and help to ensure equity in vaccine distribution.

No specific education, certificate, licenses, registrations or medical screening is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Provide ongoing outreach to communities hardest hit by COVID-19, with a particular focus on BIPOC communities, immigrants and refugees, and low-income individuals who do not have regular access to healthcare.

+ Share accurate information about the COVID-19 vaccine, such as ingredients, potential side effects and distribution, to vulnerable communities.

+ Assist with the efforts to carry out contract-tracing to reduce community transmission of the virus and help address gaps in public health capacity

+ Provide pre-vaccination education and disseminate clear, consistent, accurate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate information about the vaccine.

+ Talk to individuals about barriers to receiving the vaccine, support problem solving, and elevate their voices in COVID vaccine planning and implementation.

+ Assist individuals navigate vaccine registration process; provide information about vaccine locations.

+ Provide information to vulnerable communities about Washington State?s vaccine distribution plan, phases, and eligibility.

+ Participate in vaccine distribution planning and coordination.

+ Help individuals develop a plan for receiving the second dose of the vaccine in a timely manner, including scheduling check-ins and reminders

+ Utilize and promote safety principles that model COVID-19 risk reduction (i.e., wearing face covers or masks and other PPE, social distancing, and handwashing)

+ Provide information about community resources to individuals.

Qualifications include:

+ Excellent verbal communication skills

+ Interpersonal skills including patience, empathy and a calm professional demeanor

+ Attention to detail and an ability to prioritize work

+ Self-directed once trained

+ Must strictly adhere to HIPAA compliance and other Sea Mar policies

+ Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred
