UW Medicine Heart Institute provides a full range of cardiac care - from acute inpatient through outpatient clinic and diagnostic care - at hospital and clinic locations around the region. Our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other highly-trained clinicians is internationally recognized for their expertise in treating coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disturbances such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure and adult congenital heart disease. We're also adept at performing advanced procedures and complex surgeries, including heart transplantation, ablations and percutaneous heart valve replacement.

UW Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Service Line Administrator (SLA), UW Medicine Heart Institute. The SLA is a member of the integrated Heart Institute team, including Department Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Medical Directors who are jointly responsible for the successful development, growth and strategic integration of the Cardiovascular Services across UW Medicine. Specific duties of the SLA include both operational and administrative leadership and oversight. Administrative leadership responsibilities include ensuring the development and implementation of the Service Line strategic vision, strategic plan and associated business plans in partnership with the System clinical and administrative leadership. Operational oversight responsibilities include clinics and procedural areas at HMC, UWMC-Montlake and UWMC-NW campuses. Coordinated oversight responsibilities include inpatient units at HMC, UWMC-Montlake, UWMC-Northwest, Valley Medical Center (VMC), and ambulatory sites at VMC. Additional responsibilities include identifying and monitoring key service line targets and metrics to be reported to both clinical and administrative leadership.

The Heart Institute SLA provides leadership and facilitation for strategic program planning and implementation of the approved UW Medicine Strategic Plan related to Cardiovascular Services and the UW Medicine Patients Are First goals in these areas. The SLA also completes key liaison activities with UW Medicine entities, strategic partners and other affiliated parties. Completes new program development/expansion plans and coordinates marketing and physician outreach in messaging campaigns related to Cardiovascular Services working with Strategic Marketing & Communications and Strategic Outreach Departments.

The SLA reports to the Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations in the Office of the President, Hospitals and Clinics with a dual reporting (dotted line) to the Director of the UWMHI, and in collaboration with the CEOs of the hospitals, to ensure that all sites meet the strategic goals and standards of UW Medicine.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of six to eight years of successful leadership in hospital, clinic or health system management with increasing levels of responsibility, including experience in operations.
  • Master's degree in Business or Healthcare related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.

    DESIRED:
  • Strong understanding of Ambulatory Network/Providers
  • Prefer experience with Cardiovascular services (clinical and/or operational)
  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, analysis and business plan development
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within complex organizational structures
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, to include specific areas of outreach and marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to develop teams and manage to successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective and visionary teams that are cross functional and inter-institutional
