Job Description:
Summary:
The Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for leading the
design, development, and implementation of learning solutions with
a focus on learner engagement to address company and client
needs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
--- Provide thought leadership in instructional design to
department and company
--- Recommend strategic direction on learning
technologies/instructional systems design for the organization
--- Identify opportunities for innovation or enhancements in
design, development, or LD processes and initiatives based on
industry changes/trends
--- Articulate and lead the instructional design process
--- Design and develop learning experiences for a variety of
audiences and delivery methods including instructor led and
technology-based delivery
--- Advise and consult with clients both internal and external, on
best practices for adult learning and course development
--- Develop design documents, storyboards, and other supporting
documentation
--- Manage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop learning
content and collaborate with key stakeholders
--- Identify how changes in regulatory guidance, industry
standards, and applicable external benchmarks impact course
materials
--- Lead large, complex projects with minimal supervision
--- Apply creativity and innovation to learning solutions
--- Mentor and coach other instructional designers
--- Provide guidance and training on new learning approaches and
changes in the industry
Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
--- Advanced knowledge and application of instructional design
process, industry standards, and best practices
--- Advanced knowledge and application of adult learning theory
--- Extensive experience leading instructional design teams and
projects
--- Extensive experience developing content for different
modalities (e.g., instructor-led, virtual instructor-led,
eLearning, blended learning)
--- Extensive experience consulting with clients (internal or
external) to understand needs and development goals
--- Ability to successfully work on multiple projects
simultaneously while maintaining high quality in a fast-paced work
environment
--- Knowledge of Section 508 standards and accessible design best
practices
--- Strong technical and creative writing skills
--- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship building
skills
--- Creative problem-solving skills
--- Organizational and planning skills to effectively manage, time,
scope, and schedule
--- Strong computer skills, including Windows, Microsoft Office
Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), SharePoint and Adobe
Acrobat
--- Knowledge of web conferencing platform (such as Adobe Connect
Pro)
--- Familiarity with Content Management Systems a plus,
specifically Xyleme
--- Familiarity with a Learning Management Systems a plus,
specifically Cornerstone OnDemand
Education & Experience:
--- Bachelor's with specialization in instructional design, adult
education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
--- 5+ years of experience designing and developing
competency-based, participant-centered, applied learning
solutions
--- Experience with digital authoring tools (such as Storyline,
Captivate, Powtoon, Lectora, and other media development tools) as
well as other learning technologies
--- Experience designing and developing instructional materials for
highly technical, complex content areas, including: Analytics,
Acquisition & Contracting, Financial Management, or Grants
