leave.Job DetailsPOSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Controller is
responsible for helping empower us to meet its mission by supplying
great accounting and financial support, applications, tools and
services to help the ministries serve people. Provide accurate and
timely monthly close and financial statements for ministries,
resource departments and our Canadian counterparts. Deliver
financial reports and advise ministries, support preparation of
budgets, and analysis, while working closely with the ministry VP's
and other senior company leaders. Provide effective leadership,
strategic and tactical direction for accounting staff and their
functions. Work with the VP/Controller and ensure adherence to
GAAP, accounting policies and procedures, performance management,
training and leadership development of assigned accounting staff.
Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance and filings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(General overview and may not include all
details of responsibilities)DUTIESManage Ministry Accounting:
Provide accurate and timely financial information to ministries and
resource departments and for external reporting compliance. This
includes but is not limited to:Monthly close processPreparation of
accurate and timely monthly financial statementsOversee
Contributions for company and Accounts Receivable (AR) process for
Schools and Media including account setup of tuition and fees each
school yearOversee reconciliation of accounts related to ministry
accountingOversee reporting and compliance items related to
planned-givingWork with Resource Advancement (fundraising) team to
ensure proper accounting and receipting of donations including
fundraising eventsMinistry Support and Financial AnalysisManage
relationships with ministry management and staff to secure
solutions that add value and help the organization fulfill its
missionEncourage cooperation and mutually beneficial relationships
between the accounting department and employeesConsult on
accounting and finance issuesDevelop, implement, administer and/or
coordinate policies and procedures necessary for effective
financial operations within ministriesComplete ministry research
and other reporting as requiredSupport development of and analysis
for strategic initiatives, new products, software, and/or events
including review of tax, reporting and process impactsCollaborate
with Ministries to provide consultation, input, and feedback to
enable Ministries financial successWork with team to create best
practices in alignment with the company and industry standards with
respect to systemsParticipate in general management of ministries
through serving on leadership team(s) as requestedReview quarterly
grant reports prepared by ministry finance personnelAccounting
Department SupportPropose improvements and modifications for
internal controls, policies and procedures, management, and
reporting systemsProvide leadership for our accounting and finance
needs following high levels of accountability, transparency, and
integrityEvaluate and make recommendations for improvement related
to the technology used to meet the financial processing, control,
and reporting requirements.Assist with completion and support for
annual auditsProvide backup services as necessaryOversee the
completion of annual tax returns including our 990T, state tax
returns and any trust tax return.Assist Controller with accounting
research as directed.Company Ministries Canadian Support: Oversee
financial operations includes but is not limited to:Monthly close
process and preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial
statements; including joint ministry F/S.Oversee preparation of
monthly reporting to management and boards; both Canadian and joint
ministry boards.Oversee preparation of budgets; Canadian and both
joint ministry budgets.Coordinate with external Canadian CPA
services for preparation of annual tax returnCoordinate with
external F/S auditors during annual auditRespond to inquiries or
direction from boards as appropriateWork collaboratively with
supervisor, coworkers, and customers.Perform other related duties
as assigned.Personal conduct that reflects well on Company's
Ministries and supports our personal conduct policyPerform all
duties consistent with the Company's Ministries Mission
StatementSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervise Senior Accountants
and Accountants with full authority to hire, evaluate performance,
provide corrective action, and recommend termination.Demonstrate
leadership by encouraging cooperation and mutually beneficial
relationships between accounting and all company employees.Manage
employees and teams by setting realistic goals and then achieving
results.Provide support in troubleshooting situations, regarding
day-to-day financial operations and training as needed to new and
existing staff.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSCHRIST CENTEREDProfession

leader.EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
Management from an accredited college or university recognized by
the United States Department of Education or equivalent. Relevant
work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year
basis.EXPERIENCEThree years managing or supervising, with increased
levels of responsibilityFive years of accountingLeading teams of
three people or moreTechnical knowledge of FASB policies and
federal taxesLICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONCPAOTHER CONSIDERATIONSWork
independently, efficiently and professionally, with a wide variety
of personality types.Strong, hands-on management experience with a
proven track record of developing and mentoring a team.Great
problem solving and analytical skill to analyze

Not-for-Profit organizationsThree years public Accounting with
mid-size or national firmWith accounts receivable and billing
systemsBudgeting, forecasting and financial metricsSOFTWARE /
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGEWorking knowledge of Unit 4 Business World On,
Budget Maestro, Wide Orbit, Point Click Care, Smart Tuition, Venue
360 or other computerized accounts receivable software
systems.OTHER CONSIDERATIONSAccounting experience with Schools,
Camps, Broadcasting, and Senior Care industries is strongly
