Job Description:

Summary:Primarily responsible for community outreach, volunteer recruitment, and program support for the Foster Grandparent Program. Two hours a week will be devoted to the Senior Companion Program. This is a Part Time 20 hour per week position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Community OutreachNetwork with various community agencies to build collaborative partnerships. Identify opportunities to conduct outreach events in the community through newsletter articles, flyers, and other promotional materials.Volunteer Recruitment and RetentionInitial point of contact to inquiries about volunteering with the Foster Grandparent Program. Recruit new volunteers in King and Snohomish County by scheduling and conducting presentations to target populations. Identify locations to conduct presentations, and coordinate interpreters as needed. Communicate closely with volunteers, especially when new and newly placed with stations.Program SupportAssist the Program Coordinator and Program Assistant with volunteer and client support as needed. Assist with orientation, training of new volunteers, and outstanding timecards. Attend Advisory Committee Meetings quarterly.PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBA Degree in Education, Public Speaking, Social Services, or related field preferred.Will consider a combination of professional education and related experience which would providea sufficient background to accomplish the duties of this position.EXPERIENCE REQUIREDExperience in recruiting and/or working with volunteers.Experience in Marketing and Social MediaKnowledge and experience with public school programs, daycares, or non-profit organizations.Demonstrated ability working with older adults and/or people with disabilities. Preferred experience would include a general knowledge of the aging process and at least two years of full-time aid or volunteer experience with these populations.High comfort level and experience in public speaking or education.Past experience with a social media strategy.Ability to work closely with community leaders and site leaders.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESOrganized and able to multi-task and adjust to deadlines.Able to communicate effectively on the phone, in person, and in writing.Requires a sincere interest in working with older adults.Able to work with minimal or non-English speaking people, as well as interpreters.Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.Problem solve, work in stressful situations and deadlines, and possess a sense of humor.Intermediate computer skills that include Word, Publisher, and Power Point.Able to work courteously and effectively with older adults, people with disabilities, community groups, volunteers, diverse populations from various ethnic groups, and a multi-disciplinary staff.Valid Washington State drivers license.ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The employee is regularly required to sit at a work station without a break for periods of up to two hours using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements. Many functions are performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Ability to work in a semi-o en office setting with frequent in-person interactions and interruptions, work under deadlines, handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands is essential. Some amount of stooping, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying, and other movements may be required.Travel during normal business hours to various locations including volunteer homes for occasional deliveries, monthly in-service meetings and trainings, advisory and committee meetings, be able to run errands, and carry boxes with program supplies.
