Job DescriptionJob Description: SUMMARY: Assists in the
provision of recreational therapy to maintain and, if possible,
improve the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of frail and
disabled adults.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Assist
with daily activities as assigned by the Activity Manager.2.
Provide personal attention to the participants. Share any special
skills and talents.4. Participate with other staff in the
development of each participant's individual treatmentplan,
evaluation of participant progress, and planning for discharge of
participant.5. Lead group activities.6. Assist participants with
feeding, mobility, and toileting.7. Assist staff and participants
with outings and special events.8. Set up and take down furniture
as directed. Help maintain a clean and safe environment.9. Attend
staff meetings and training.11. Demonstrate an eagerness to learn
and enhance skills that promote cultural competence.12. Participate
in events related to understanding institutional racism and
building cultural competence.13. Other duties as necessary and
assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This job has no supervisory
responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully,
an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of
the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable
accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities
to perform the essential functions.1. High School diploma or GED.2.
Minimum of one year experience working with frail and disabled
adults and the elderly.3. Physical ability to assist disabled
participants with transferring and ambulating; must be able to lift
at least 50 pounds.4. Ability to work cooperatively as a team
member.5. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and
lifestyles.6. Willingness to obtain a yearly TB Test, Statement of
Good Health, Food Handlers' Permit, and CPR Certification.7.
Willingness to help participants with feeding and toileting.8.
Computer experience preferred.Note: All employees are subject to WA
State Patrol Criminal History Background Check and must complete a
Criminal History Self-Disclosure Form.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to
speak effectively with clients, including those who are hard of
hearing, read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic math skills: addition,
subtraction, multiplication, and division.REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions and to problem solve.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required
to use hands to sort, handle, or feel and reach with hands and
arms. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The
employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. A person
must be able to physically assist the disabled adults in
transferring and ambulating.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The job is performed
in a temperature-regulated environment with a moderate noise
level.COVID-19 considerations:Employees must have received or be
willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
Proof of vaccination required. Individuals may request exemption
from the vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons. All
