Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC)

The caregiver must be sufficiently fluent in the English language
to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
The degree of fluency required will vary depending upon the nature
of the position.

For direct patient care roles: Performs and maintains currency of
essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and

patients and their families. Receives direction from the RN for

Appropriately communicates and documents all daily activities and

Provides patient care as directed by team RN and within scope of
practice. Duties performed may include, but are not limited to:
making and changing beds, assisting with ADL's, vital signs,
urinary catheter care and removal, Intake & Output's, ambulation
assistance, assisting patients to the bathroom, assisting patients
with using a bedpan, assisting with pericare, assisting the patient
with feeding, and performing chemstrip functions.
Performs courtesy patient rounds with frequency as delegated by the

glucose controls, temperature log-book, and medication refrigerator
Assists with patient admission, discharge, transfer, and associated
documentation. Responsible for the documentation and the care of

Actively participates in unit, department, and system-wide
educational activities including Quality Improvement programs as

directed, by ensuring patient safety, taking responsibility for the

Required qualifications in this position includes:
- Current certification as a certified Nursing Assistant in the
State of Washington
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at
time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military
Training Network (MTN).
- Washington State Medical Assistant - Registered will be
required with Swedish Medical Center facility application completed
within 7 days of hire. Must obtain active license within 60 days of
hire. Employee will not be authorized to practice independently for
Point of Care until registration is obtained.
Preferred qualifications in this position includes:
- 6 months Experience in one of the following categories: --- Six
months of acute care experience --- Acute or skilled experience
will be waived if the applicant has demonstrated experience
involving customer service in healthcare or other related industry
and completion of an acute care NAC course --- Acute or skilled
experience will be waived for students currently enrolled and in
good standing at a traditional registered nursing program approved
by the Nursing Quality Care Commission. At a minimum, satisfactory
completion of one academic term (quarter or semester) that included
clinical patient care experience is required. Strong preference
will be given to students enrolled in a BSN program.
