The Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication (EP&F) Department (the Bike Shop) within the Test Equipment and Environments Center is seeking a Section Lead for the Test Equipment Prototyping and Fabrication (TEPF) section in Tucson, AZ. The mission of the Bike Shop is to provide rapid, innovative engineering solutions and prototype and test equipment fabrication to demonstrate new technologies, develop new capabilities, and solve engineering problems throughout the program process. The TEPF Section Lead will lead a group of RMD para-professional technicians who fabricate, test, and inspect electrical and mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies, including cables, chassis, CCAs, test racks, and other assemblies in support of Test Equipment (TE) development and integration.

A Section Lead is needed for Test Equipment Prototyping and Fabrication (TEPF) in Tucson, AZ. The mission of the group is to provide test equipment fabrication for any Raytheon Missiles and Defense (RMD) program. This TEPF Section Lead will lead a group of RMD para-professional technicians who fabricate, test, and inspect electrical and mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies, including cables, chassis, CCAs, test racks, and other assemblies in support of Test Equipment (TE) development and integration.

Responsibilities to anticipate:

This role serves as the Shop Manager for the Test Equipment Prototyping and Fabrication team on the RMD airport site in Tucson, AZ. In this role you will be the direct supervisor of the TEPF section members with responsibilities including:

  • Lead a team of approximately 15 section members
  • Conduct formal and informal performance reviews and career development discussions
  • Lead by example, adhering to and ensuring alignment with our Values and Behaviors
  • Establish growth and training plans
  • Manage manpower needs, including interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding
  • Assist the lab lead(s) in enforcing lab policy and addressing compliance issues
  • Provide oversight for TEPF shop operations and processes, including process improvements
  • Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting of fabrication, test, and inspection related issues
  • Identify alternate tooling in response to obsolescence or availability issues
  • Collaborate with Program leadership to identify, nominate, and staff technicians
  • Support functional initiatives within the department, center, and directorate, as necessary
  • Be accountable for cost and schedule performance of the shop teams The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    Typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of six (6) years of prior relevant experience OR In absence of a degree, requires ten (10) or more years of prior relevant experience in the areas of engineering design, development, fabrication, integration, and/or test.
    • Experience in a technical leadership role, including responsibilities such as, overseeing technical content, cost, and schedule performance
    • Experience working in a functional leadership or program management role including managing schedules and resources to meet assigned milestones
    • Experience presenting to leadership and peers. Qualifications We Value:
      • A Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
      • A Master's Degree in one of the aforementioned areas of relevant experience
      • Ability to manage time and resources to consistently meet demanding schedules
      • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical engineering drawings and sketches
      • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment
      • Ability to communicate clearly and to convey innovative ideas
      • Willingness and ability to coach section members and hold critical conversations
      • Experience deploying resources effectively to satisfy demanding schedules
      • Knowledge of industry specific tooling, including identification and proper use
      • Experience with IPC Standards, e.g., J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620
      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Power BI
      • Experience interfacing directly with customers in an engineering/manufacturing environment
      • Familiarity with laboratory and field test equipment What We Offer:
