Job Description:
Primary Purpose:
The Restorative Aide (CNA) provides resident-specific restorative
programs designed and directed by the Director of Nursing Services,
that seeks to promote and maintain the highest level of functioning
in the residents daily life till maximum level of achievement and
maintenance has been reached. This includes programs that focus on
achieving and maintaining optimal physical, mental, and
psychosocial functioning.
Principle Responsibilities:
- - - - - - - Perform restorative care treatments in compliance
with federal and state regulations.
- - - - - - - Participates with inter discipline team to
development and update resident-directed plans of care. Helps
identify and correct problem areas, and/or improvement of
programs.
- - - - - - - Ensures all specialized resident adaptive equipment
is in good working condition.
- - - - - - - Provides education and training for residents and
staff on procedures involved in the treatment process and equipment
use.
- - - - - - - Coordinates the Progressive Self Feeding Program with
staff involved in the program.
- - - - - - - Creates an Individualized Restorative Care Plan that
embraces the resident's individual needs, desires and goals to
promote the residents' ability to adapt and adjust to living as
independently and safely as possible.
- - - - - - - Motivates and enables residents to perform their
program in a fun, creative atmosphere that they look forward to
participating in.
- - - - - - - Creates and maintains an atmosphere of personal
interest and a positive emphasis on an energetic environment
throughout the neighborhoods.
- - - - - - - Updates resident charts each shift.
- - - - - - - Plans and coordinates equipment and supply needs with
the MDS/Restorative Nurse Manager.
- - - - - - - Performs nursing assistant and/or bath aide tasks as
needed.
Required Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
- - - - - - - Knowledge of the principles and purpose of
restorative program.
- - - - - - - Ability to demonstrate range of motion techniques
(proper body mechanics) and gait techniques.
- - - - - - - Knowledge of basic swimming and life-saving
skills.
- - - - - - - Regular, dependable and reliable attendance.
- - - - - - - Knowledge of basic leadership skills.
- - - - - - - Effective English communications skills both verbal
and written.
- - - - - - - CPR, First Aide and Food Handlers permit.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- - - - - - - Current CNA certification for Washington State.
- - - - - - - State certifications for restorative programs.
- - - - - - - Two years' experience as a CNA in a skilled nursing
facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- - - - - - - Extensive walking and standing. - Moves actively
through the day.
- - - - - - - Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds of weight and
support up to 100 lbs.
- - - - - - - Carrying, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping,
twisting, bending, squatting, crouching and kneeling also
required.
- - - - - - - Be able to perform rigorous exercises throughout the
shift with the residents
- - - - - - - Use of computer, telephone, and all restorative
equipment i.e. standup table, nu-step.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- - - - - - - Exposure to bloodborne pathogens: - Level I.
- - - - - - - Works is performed in climate controlled work
areas.
- - - - - - - Work throughout the skilled nursing service area,
i.e., resident rooms, nurses' stations and pool area.
- - - - - - - Subject to frequent interruptions.
- - - - - - - Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents,
family members, or visitors.
- - - - - - - Willingness to work on weekends and holidays.
- - - - - - - Subject to falls, skin burns from equipment, odors,
etc. throughout the work day.
- - - - - - - Use sara/hoyer to assist with lifting/transferring
residents.
