UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a EVENING SHIFT, PART TIME 70% FTE, PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST. Incumbent performs a variety of admitting department tasks including but not limited to: Patient registration, general clerical support, customer service, and operating the switchboard.Employees will be cross-trained and expected to work efficiently and effectively in all assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs admitting or pre-admitting procedures upon arrival of patients.This includes inpatients, individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing or outpatient procedures, patients in the Emergency Room, and patients for scheduled/unscheduled procedures and surgeries

  • Greets, directs and assists patients

  • Ensures patients understand admission policies and procedures.

  • Collects necessary information to register patients

  • Switchboard Operation, includes but is not limited to: Promptly, courteously and calmly answers all calls through the switchboard

  • Implements emergency procedures calmly, efficiently, and accurately

  • Greets all patients and visitors in a friendly, welcoming and professional manner.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of healthcare, administrative, or customer service experience OR equivalent education/experience.

    DESIRED:

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology

  • Health industry experience

  • Experience working in admitting and/or switchboard operations

  • Customer service in a clinical setting

  • Able to work in a high volume, fast paced work environment and perform and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
