Local Unit & Position DescriptionOur world is changing its
energy mix and the power system is undergoing a major overhaul to
accommodate this. New techniques allow equipment to be operated
closer to the limit, new technologies are applied to enable the
massive integration of variable resources, and new market models
are piloted to efficiently guide the required investments. How
would you like to be part of it?DNV Energy Systems' Power System
Advisory team is working on exciting opportunities and the team is
growing. We are seeking an intern to help us build tools to improve
our assessment of the performance of underground and submarine
cable systems.In this role, you will implement standardized
analytical loss functions from IEC and IEEE standards, as well as
from technical literature in an automated simulation environment to
enable the quick assessment of different project alternatives. The
implementation will focus on the application of high-voltage AC
cables for offshore wind export and may include the assessment of
dynamic loading. You will also help us by collecting representative
cable parameters and creating a database that can be used for
rapidly characterizing early-phase conceptual cable system
designs.Broad knowledge of high voltage cable technology is
preferred, in addition to proficiency with a professional
automation scripting language such as Python.The position could be
remote based out of any of our US DNV offices. -Position
QualificationsWhat is Required
- Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical
Engineering with specialization in high voltage cables
(preferred)
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to present
technical information clearly and concisely in both written and
verbal formats, as well as understand their audience and tune their
communication styles to suit varying degrees of technical and
commercial understanding
- Excellent at building and maintaining personal and professional
relationships

range of starting pay for this role is $22.00 - $25.00 per
