The Consumer Loan Title Specialist will handle title maintenance
requests by members and work with various State licensing agencies
and collateral management vendors to complete the transaction. This
role will review funded Title secured loan files and work with
Washington State licensing agencies to perfect the collateral.
Title work will be performed in a timely and proficient manner in
accordance with Credit Union and department standards. This role is
responsible for providing excellent service to our members and
internal customers.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with Seattle CU
Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection
requirements.
- Service Title secured loans and assist in the resolution of
problems in accordance with credit union policy and in compliance
with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of titling laws and regulations
for the state of Washington. Work with out-of-state licensing
agencies and research state licensing requirements, as needed.
- Ensure that all members receive prompt, efficient, courteous,
and professional service and that member problems/complaints are
resolved promptly and courteously, with follow through to
resolution.
- Have a thorough knowledge of credit union departments and how
they interact with each other.
- Retrieve, work, and maintain title secured loan reports as
assigned. Notify management of any trends or major errors in
information being reported.
- Perform loan adjustment functions as assigned including
researching and resolving member disputes, processing loan
modification requests and collateral modifications, performing loan
maintenance, and converting title secured loans to personal loans
when appropriate.
- Review funded title secured loan files to ensure Department of
Licensing documents are complete and accurate, all fees and taxes
collected, and title/registrations included.
- Work with Retail, Consumer Loan Processing, and members to
obtain the proper documentation needed to license and/or perfect
title, as needed.
- Release title liens when collateral loan is paid in full.
- Monitor perfection of vehicle titles, and work discrepancy and
error reports in the collateral management system.
- Perform Quality Control functions including maintaining a log
of errors for training purposes.
- Work with vehicle licensing agency to perfect titles and
register collateral.
- Perform title maintenance for members.
- Notify management of any trends or major errors in information
being reported.
- Recommend improvements to processes as necessary to achieve
continuous quality improvement and maximum efficiency.
- Ensure all documentation is maintained in an organized and
secure manner.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Minimum two years of experience working in the financial
services industry required with experience in consumer loans
preferred.
- Minimum two year of experience in vehicle title processes.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member while using
discretion and sound judgment in decision making.
- Ability to perform in a multi tasked environment with the
ability to prioritize using organizational and technical
skills.
- Ability to solve difficult problems with effective solutions:
asks good questions and probes.
- Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively
communicate.
- Spirit of volunteerism preferred.
Working Conditions
- May be required to attend off-hours and off-site meetings.
- Indirect exposure to robbery.
- Work is a mix of in-office and remote from home work.
- Headquarters office is based in Seattle, WA.
