Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the discovery phase of a data and analytics initiative. This role involves engaging with business and technical stakeholders to gather, synthesize, and document requirements that will inform the future architecture, tooling, and implementation planning for the program.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in data-related projects, with the ability to operate in ambiguous environments, structure requirements clearly, and coordinate early-phase planning activities. Experience in utility, energy, or trading domains is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with stakeholders across business and technology to gather and document requirements related to data, analytics, and reporting.
Capture a wide range of needs including data sources, historical data requirements, data freshness, reporting expectations, and user access needs.
Organize findings into clear documentation for use by architects, data engineers, and project leadership.
Support the coordination of discovery activities including workshops, stakeholder meetings, and working sessions.
Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure business needs are accurately reflected in architectural planning.
Contribute to early planning efforts related to vendor selection and future project phases.
Assist in tracking small budgets or coordination needs as required.

Required Experience:

5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in data, analytics, reporting, or information systems projects.
Strong ability to translate business needs into structured requirements and documentation.
Experience working in discovery or planning phases of complex projects.
Familiarity with key concepts in data projects: latency, history depth, user roles, reporting needs, data integration, etc.
Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Comfortable working independently and coordinating across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience:

Experience in industries such as utilities, energy, or financial trading.
Exposure to enterprise data architecture or platform planning.
Involvement in RFP preparation or vendor evaluation.
Familiarity with modern data platforms, analytics tools, or cloud ecosystems.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour, depending upon experience.
