Our relatives come first and deserve the best.Position Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Informatics and Epidemiology, the Business Analyst is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of analytics applications to support high priority initiatives that are critical to the success of Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB). The Business Analyst will identify, source and manage the data needs of cross-functional lines of business (clinical and non-clinical) to deliver key strategic insights to organizational stakeholders. This position is an integral part of the SIHB team and works in a collaborative manner to understand the dimensions, uses, and data requirements of SIHB's operational and clinical teams. The Business Analyst will work with management teams to develop regular reporting and data visualizations to inform operational and managerial decision making and process improvements.Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: This position reports directly to the Data Coordinator II and the Director of Informatics and Epidemiology and is a member of the UIHI team. Serve the needs of our Relatives first by delivering the highest quality, professional, responsive and innovative care.Job Responsibilities* Collaborate with Executive and Division leadership to identify, prioritize, and design key performance indicator reporting to inform operational and managerial decision making.* Develop data structure, analysis, report designs, reporting processes, and report delivery to execute on operational and strategic priorities. * Create and maintain agile and visual reporting dashboards to facilitate on demand report access to key stakeholders. * Deliver key operational and strategic insights using analysis and modeling using requirements, assumptions, and best practices gathered from organizational stakeholders and external resources.* Research and maintain up to date understanding of regulatory and reporting requirements that influence SIHB's operating environment as an IHS and FQHC organization.* Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize business insights and quality reporting. * Partner with cross-functional partners to investigate, document and map how non-clinical and clinical data is captured, stored, and interacts to better inform and deliver insight analytics. * Assist with maintaining data dictionaries for databases used by Seattle Indian Health Board* Define and identify new process improvement activities to streamline data acquisition, data cleaning and preparation.* Write and create algorithms and coding systems for all analysis performed on data for data preparation, data abstraction, data analysis, and measuring calculations.* Assist with ad hoc data request and technical assistance for all data aspects, including interpretation of data. * Analyze data characteristics, attributes, trends, or patterns. Review data reports for quality and consistency. Be able to explain variations in data. Prepare necessary data cleanup as it relates to improving the quality of data for research and operation purposes, and share findings with data owners to improve ongoing data quality.* Look for effective solutions to address data quality. * Complete other duties as assigned* Experience preparing and performing descriptive, advanced, and complex data analysis with minimal supervision* Knowledge of medical and business operations terminology, strong analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal verbal and written skills including the ability to explain methodology and findings in lay terms* Demonstrated experience with data management and ability to solve complex problems* Experience working with databases, large data sets, multiple data sources and complex data to create meaningful information * Advance experience and knowledge with SQL software with ability to gather, process and explore data * Experience and knowledge with writing queries and macros using SQL or other similar software and must be proficient with data visualization packages such as Tableau and Microsoft Power BI* Experience working with diverse stakeholders with multiple needs to convert data into highly usable reports, dashboards, and visualizations * Requires advanced professional skills to effectively communicate about complex data analyses, sometimes to audiences with limited knowledge of analytic methods * Experience managing complex projects * Ability to coordinate multiple complex projects effectively* Work independently and in teams to meet project deadlines, exercising initiative and judgment to accomplish assigned tasks * Run stakeholder meetings to gather requirements, surface business needs, and identify cross-functional insights* Present to a variety of stakeholders, including Executive Leadership, operational managers, and individual contributors* Interpret direction, especially in ambiguous environments without clearly defined processes* Proficiently use of programs and languages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SQL, , Python and R.* Write and prepare reports, briefs, and other dissemination materials * Manage multiple ongoing projects in an environment of changing priorities and critical deadlines* Take initiative while establishing strong, collaborative interpersonal relationships with colleagues at all levels and from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds* Demonstrate cultural competency in working collaboratively with American Indian and Alaska Native communitiesBackground QualificationsRequired:* Familiarity with health and social issues facing AI/ANs and a desire to promote the delivery of appropriate health services to this population.* Bachelor's degree in business administration, business studies, management, information technology, or computer science.* A minimum of three to five years of experience in business analytics. Applicants must demonstrate experience performing both analytical and project management work. * Experience working with publicly reported quality measures.* Experience analyzing data with SQL.* Experience working with HEDIS, NCQA, AHRQ, CMS, and other standard measures* Successfully complete a background check.Work Environment: Office hours are 8-5, Monday through Friday with occasional extra hours for events or to meet deadlines.
