opportunity for a full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day
shift INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN to join our Endoscopy unit. The
Instrument Technician will play a key support role on a team that
values exceptional patient care and collaboration.SCHEDULE:4x10s
(7am - 5:30pm), Monday -Friday, with some on-call weekend
responsibilities when needed.RESPONSIBILITIES:Assemble instrument
procedure trays, packs, case carts, and kitsAssure good working
order of equipmentClean, decontaminate, and disinfect equipmentWrap
linens, procedure trays, instruments and equipment for
sterilizationChoose appropriate sterilization process for items,
and apply the correct sterilization chemical indicator and
tapeOperate, maintain, and troubleshoot issues for routine washer
and sterilizer machinesProperly store supplies and equipment, and
assure all equipment and supplies are available and ready for
proceduresUtilize sterile/aseptic technique and abide by AORN
standards and UWMC protocols and standardsREQUIREMENTS:High school
graduation or equivalent and 2 years of experience processing
complex trays of surgical instruments and equipment; or equivalent
education/experience.DESIRED:Graduation from an accredited
Instrument Room Technician training program or a Central Processing
training programCentral Service/Materials Management
certificationUW Medicine includes Harborview Medical Center, UW
