The FINANCIAL ANALYST OF GRANT AND SUPPLIES EXPENDITURES , UW Medicine (UWM) Accounting works in conjunction with the Harborview Medical Center (HMC) Accounting Manager and various HMC operational areas (clinical and non-clinical), establishing and maintaining relationships between program managers and Accounting and providing assurances that grant expenditures are properly monitored, analyzed, and reported. The Analyst also works to ensure that costs are reasonable and consistently treated per contract agreements, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), governmental accounting standards board (GASB), and regulatory requirements. This position also leads efforts within Accounting to ensure inventories and supply costs are analyzed, evaluated, and correlated to volumes, revenues, and contractual arrangements. In addition, this individual prepares the HMC monthly Financial Statement Board Reporting (FSBR) package. The Analyst must have a strong customer service orientation, a focus on delivering accurate and actionable analytical tools, and a flexible approach to solving problems. The Analyst must be able to function well independently and must be able to diagnose and document accounting problems using reconciliations and data flow charts. RESPONSIBILITIES: Partner with various departments to ensure supply costs are analyzed, evaluated, and correlated to clinical volumes, revenues, and contractual arrangements Collaborate with the Operating Room, Central Distribution, Angio, and Pharmacy to ensure transactions for inventoried items are properly identified, recorded, validated, reconciled, and reported. Review and validate monthly expense reporting process, including budget to actual reconciliation and variance analysis. Communicate variances in a meaningful way monthly for areas of responsibility Under the direction of the HMC Accounting Manager, monitor grant and contract performance, providing analysis and reports useful to Accounting and program managers in developing solutions to improve results Prepare the monthly financial HMC Board Reporting package, inclusive of budget-to-actual and trended financial / statistical information, as well as operational graphs, charts and other information used to communicate financial results to leaders, executives, and the Board of Trustees. This position has accountability for leading various teams in support of achieving business goals REQUIREMENTS Four to five (4-5) years of experience working in a healthcare accounting role, demonstrating familiarity with the accounting process flow and functions Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or related field is required Advanced skill level in using General Ledger applications and supporting software programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access Strong understanding of GAAP and GASB An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered DESIRED: CPA preferred
