The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity open for a Non-Permanent Program Financial Analyst.

Under the general direction of the University of Washington School of Nursing (UW SoN) Director for Finance & Administration, the Program Financial Analyst performs business analysis of the key metrics and drivers of the school and produces data that can be used to make strategic and operational recommendations and decisions. The scope of analysis encompasses financial data, budget information and business processes. The work performed relates directly to management policies and/or organization, business operations, and the analysis performed result in decisions impacting allocation of funds, staffing levels and/or program results.

Duties:
Financial Reporting & Analytics (50%):

--- Develop systems and tools to collect and analyze financial, accounting, and academic information including computer models, databases, and spreadsheets.
--- Develop and implement evaluation methodologies providing decision support to UW SoN leadership in the financial reporting and risk management functions.
--- Develop key indicators within the UW SoN, with particular attention to metrics and balance scorecard measures.
--- Drive the School of Nursing metrics and reporting processes, including the creation of, monitoring, and coordination of metrics using the Balanced Scorecard approach to monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics
--- Statistical and data analysis of academic program financial-related information.
--- Analyze financial, accounting, and academic information; design and develop computer models, databases, and spreadsheets; prepare capital and operating budget reports, compelling narrative and analytical reports using aesthetic design layouts for presentation and distribution to internal units within the School, external University of Washington departments, outside organizations, and the public.

Coordination of Nursing Fee-Based Program Financial Activities (30%):

--- Prepare annual budget submission analyzing correct enrollment, courses, and instructors and determining proposed annual fee increases, considering increased expenses, curriculum changes, consulting with SAS, departments, and Chief Operating Officer. Respond to questions from UWC2
--- Evaluate instructional support costs using metrics developed previously for advising, clinical placements, admission review, department support, etc. Lead periodic review of methodology and current cost structures.
--- Complete CTI worksheet and process for fee-based programs quarterly.
--- Prepare budget by quarter (Excel file) for each PCE program
--- Quarterly monitoring of budget to actuals for each fee-based program, analyzing significant differences and taking appropriate action.
--- Prepare TA true-up analysis quarterly to allocate TA salary & benefits and tuition waivers to benefiting budgets from budgets initially charged.
--- After year end, calculate net income for each program and amount to be transferred to each department and central budgets.

Project Management & Process Improvement (10%):

--- Provide policy and process recommendations for improvements throughout the School of Nursing.
--- Design and recommend to leadership financial performance metrics.
--- Research and recommend financial policy development and analysis.
--- Apply knowledge of the University of Washington and UW SoN to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization; furnish decision makers with well-researched solutions to continual and non-recurring challenges facing the organization.
--- Collaborate with other UW SoN units to establish best practices, formulate policies, and strengthen client relationships, recognizing the importance of functioning as a unified team.
--- Oversee strategic gift review and endowment income utilization.

Budgeting and Budget Management (10%)

--- Finalize the annual merit process for SoN faculty and Staff.
--- Manage A/B faculty salary reviews annually.
--- Lead fiscal year budget development and submission processes.
--- Manage state biennium balances.
--- Oversee deficit management process reviewing deficit reports, checking balances randomly and assisting in deficit resolution.
--- Process CTIs for CNE and other programs as needed.

Perform other duties as required to support the ongoing mission and strategic plans of the School.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field
2-3 years of relevant experience
Experience with Budgets
Experience in delivering metrics
Collaboration.
