ASSISTANT CHIEF ENGINEER -OVERVIEW: - - - - - - - - - -The
Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair
and operation of the mechanical, electrical, and control systems
for Seattle Art Museum, Asian Art Museum and Olympic Sculpture
Park. - SAM is dedicated to racial equity and strives for

REPORTS TO: Chief EngineerCOMPENSATION: - - - - - - $40.86-$43.27
hourly pay rangeBENEFITS: - - - - - - Full time employees are
covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life
insurance/LTD/AD&D. Employees are able to enroll in our
company's 403b plan. Employees will also receive ten days of sick
leave and ten days of vacation leave every year, twelve paid

business passport) and museum membership. - ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:Assists with the supervision of the Facilities
Engineering team.Supports the engineering team in performing duties
as needed.Monitors and ensures the proper operation of all
mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) systems as well as their
general maintenance.Determines work procedures and expedites
workflow. Assigns duties and examines completed work for quality
and alignment with the high standards of the team.Ensures that all
work conforms to policies and procedures and fire and life safety
standards.Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency
of the team.Maintains the Engineering library and infrastructure
records.Assures as-built records of projects and documents
necessary changes for the operation and maintenance
programs.Assists with responses to public or other inquiries
relative to engineering procedures on specific projects and other
information after consultation with Chief Engineer.Maintains
orderliness and cleanliness in all mechanical and electrical
spaces.Performs regular inventory process on spare parts and tools
in order to clearly identify and account for the items and assure
proper functionality and quantity.Assists with the requisitioning
of materials, supplies, parts and tools and maintains control over
their inventory, storage and use. Maintains procedures manual for
daily operations, and compiles and maintains service logs.Performs
other work as requested or required.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:AA OE, refrigerant, electrical,
other. - Candidate will be responsible for those systems, OE 1, 2,
or 3 is required, OE 1 desired. - - BA ME or EE is preferred.5
years' work experience in operating essential buildings or critical
environments. Working knowledge of direct digital control HVAC
systems, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical (MPE) Safety
procedures. Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical system
optimization programs and servicing. Working knowledge of basic
building systems such as mechanical, plumbing, electrical,
painting, etc.Working knowledge of CMMS asset management
programsAbility to successfully pass a Security Background and DMV
check.Understanding of basic WISHA/DOSH requirements and basic
First Aid procedures. - Excellent written and oral communication
skills. - Ability to write clear and understandable maintenance
task proceduresDemonstrated ability to use MS Office products,
including WORD, Excel, and SharePoint.Experience in managing
vendors and out sourced relationships.Ability to work with close
attention to detail, and to maintain confidentiality. - Ability to
assess priorities and work well under pressure; excellent time
management, problem solving, and analytical skills. Flexibility to
provide fluid services to support special events and exhibits as
they arise.Ability to exercise sound judgment and common sense in
handling emergencies. Ability to work with members, the public, and
co-workers professionally and tactfully, follow museum policy and
support management decisions in a positive, professional
manner.WORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure: Work areas are inside and
outside of Museum facility and have light-to-moderate background
noise. - Position involves working with hazardous chemicals and
cleaning agents. Position may also include occasional work in tight
or confined spaces.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:Stationary Work: - Virtually 100% of time is spent
standing or moving around the work areas.Communication: - Clear and
effective communication with volunteers, donors, members, the
public, and co-workers is necessary.Moving/Lifting/Carrying: -
Ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds when using heavy tools
or parts. Must be able to regularly position self to access files,
tools, materials and supplies.Climbing/Balancing: - Ability to
climb and maintain balance when working on ladders and lifts.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: - Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch
when working on motors or troubleshooting work areas.
Reaching/Handling: - Ability to retrieve and work with appropriate
