A well-respected large Seattle-based institution is looking for a Cloud Architect with 10 years of cloud experience and 5+ years of Azure architecture.

  • Leading a cloud migration plan and implementation. Not only having strong architecture expereince, but someone who has architected and helped through the migration of said architecture. Migrating almost everything from on-prem to Azure cloud.Utilizing tools like Azure Migrate, Azure Migration Factory, etc.
  • Systems Engineering in MSFT stack: EntraID, CoPilot, Defender,SharePoint, etc.
  • 10+ years in cloud (multi-cloud a perk but not required)

    *Description:*
    The Cloud Architect position is responsible for strategic planning, systems thinking, and technical architecture, while supporting engineers with designing, implementing, and managing complex cloud applications, systems, and infrastructure at an enterprise scale, with a focus on Microsoft products and the Azure cloud ecosystem. An invested, compassionate, team-oriented IT professional, this position directly supports the research, teaching, and administrative missions of the University. This position supports and collaborates broadly with other architects, engineers, and business owners and professionals to deliver core the universitys' services and is relied upon to provide and facilitate expert troubleshooting when things go wrong. Additionally, this position provides engineering leadership to one or more service teams delivering complex IT services to the University and its extended community.

    The IT sector of this education instituion is the central information technology organization for the university, responsible for strategic planning, oversight, and direction of the university's IT infrastructure, resources, and services. This division provides critical technology support to all three campuses,, and research operations around the world, partnering with the community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service."
    The Infrastructure Division (INF) designs, implements and supports the essential IT infrastructure services and technologies that are indispensable to carrying out the University's mission. They include the University's wired and wireless networks, telecommunications services, computing and storage services, infrastructure tools and service delivery platforms. The division is also a trusted partner, delivering expertise and critical IT infrastructure
    Position Complexities:
    This position is a Microsoft technology expert with comprehensive knowledge, systems thinking, and experience developing technical architecture and solutions within a complex organizational and policy framework that requires reliable, cost-effective solutions including those within the Azure cloud ecosystem and in support of identity, privacy, access management, integration, and system management. They will resolve complex design, architecture, and integration problems involving multiple interdependent components. The position will interpret and apply complex business rules and regulations. The position must demonstrate maturity and agility in making decisions, facilitating collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, using facts as well as heuristics and probabilities. This position is responsible for Microsoft technology decisions broadly affecting how University business is conducted within the context of enterprise architecture practices and strategic goals for the University. Other Microsoft technology engineers consult with this position thus it is imperative to foster a culture of support and mentorship, focus on nurturing strong, trust-based relationships and embodying a mindset that prioritizes guidance and assistance.

    Requirements:
    Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering or a related field or experience.
    Five years of progressively responsible experience in cloud information technology systems architecture, engineering, implementation, and support of enterprise-wide technology solutions and services.
    Azure cloud experience in evaluating, architecting, and integrating Microsoft technologies such as:
    Copilot, Automation, Device management, Microsoft Identity, Client authentication, Virtualization, Networking, Monitoring, Product update management, Developer tools, Microsoft Database, Server management, Application management, and/or Security Azure cloud technical leadership role with demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and guide others to learn complex technical skills
    Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new technologies, methodologies, tools, etc
    Demonstrated excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities.
    Ability to work effectively in a complex organization with minimal direct supervision and competing priorities from multiple stakeholders across all levels in the organization.
