UW Medicine Consolidated Laundry is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine, including UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, UW School of Medicine, UW Physicians Network, and other regional healthcare facilities. The department effectively and efficiently manages linen resources and costs while maintaining quality patient care and comfort.
UW Medicine Consolidated Laundry has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME TRANSPORTATION HELPER (DAY SHIFTS).
Transportation Helper duties include:
Utilize hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to load, unload, and transport linens and supplies to appropriate locations at Consolidated Laundry.
Wipe down and transport empty clean carts from cart-washing machine to the production floor.
Transport linens via the elevator to the designated area in the laundry.
Assist in the pick-up and delivery of a variety of items.
Receive deliveries at the loading dock.
Check materials and laundry supplies; crate, package, prepare, and label items for shipment and/or delivery; obtain receipts from deliveries and record shortages and/or breakages.
Unpack, assemble, and store Consolidated Laundry supplies and materials.
Assist in preparation of orders for transport, including scanning carts for computer entry.
Perform limited driving under direct supervision of a qualified driver.
Data entry of weights/carts to computer.
Perform related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS: Physical ability to do required work.
Ability to communicate in English (written and oral).
Some computer knowledge.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Pull and push heavy carts repeatedly throughout the day.
Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.
Criminal background check.
