PURPOSE Work as part of a team to ensure that plant equipment is fully operational with little to no down time. Nature and Scope Demonstrate behavioral safety, not just rule following. Positive working attitude with fellow employees and the public. Actively participate in continuous improvement of plant equipment. Ensure that all field equipment is operating properly; diagnosis and repair of any field problems. Perform inspections, troubleshooting and perform repairs and well as verify equipment functionality. Provide documentation and reporting as required or as directed by the Supervisor. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES Manage given responsibilities from start to finish Follow any and all safety policies and programs, take accountability for the safety of yourself and others. Perform all duties given by supervisor. Work any shifts, including weekends, paid holidays or on call. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, in the plant, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but occasionally loud. Maritime Experience MSHA Customer Service A mature safety culture Exposure to rail, truck, and barge movements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Education & Experience: 3-5 years of Journeyman level millwright or heavy industrial maintenance experience. Candidate must be able to comprehend and apply basic mechanical procedures as well as demonstrate a proficiency in metal fabrication (i.e. cutting, welding, grinding, etc). The ability to learn in a fast paced and high pressured environment. Candidate must have the ability to work alone or in a team. Must be able to multi task. Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating/ maintenance instructions, repair manuals, precision instruments. Communicate effectively with fellow workers and supervisors. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Take proper measurements and build/ fabricate to them. Reasoning Ability: Ability to troubleshoot and solve mechanical deficiencies as well as deal with a variety of situations where only limited guidelines exist. Understand/ demonstrate safe work practices. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to plan a job, including steps/process, time management, and parts needed. Work unsupervised, make competent decisions, identify parts (either by number or measurements taken when no id available), locate parts. Improvise when necessary, utilizing materials on hand and thinking outside the box.
