Job Description:
We’re seeking a Safety Innovation Laboratory Lab Manager to join
the Global Safety Engineering team. This position will be mainly be
located in and responsible for the development and management of
the premier AWS Safety Innovation Laboratory space in Kent,
Washington as well as coordinating prototype deployments at other
AWS locations in the region. On this team you will wear many hats,
work smart, and iterate quickly. We’re looking for someone who can
define a vision for technical safety opportunities and then execute
on that vision. Successful applicants will have a strong and
technically oriented background in the management of research
equipment, managing laboratory safety programs, running lab
facilities/construction projects, advancing lab standards, and
partnering with engineers, members of the H&S Programs team,
and lab technicians. Successful applicants will have experience
defining problems, leading cross-functional teams, and
communicating with a large number of stakeholders, including
written and oral communications with senior leadership. Key job
responsibilities Manage the planning, build-out, and relocation of
equipment or area within the safety lab, meeting the schedule and
programmatic needs of the business Work with 3rd party test
agencies to test and validate equipment/products to be used within
AWS Data Centers. Create, publicize, and enforce laboratory
procedures and cleanliness/organization standards, partnering with
outside consultants when necessary. Organize and set standards for
lab operations with the Design for Safety laboratory space. This
includes designing workflows for efficiency, compliance, and
output. Develop and implement test plans, trial plans, and Design
of Experiments (DOE’s) for new equipment & processes Drive
cross-functional collaboration to establish and follow work
instructions and test and procedures. Work with risk and safety
partners to ensure that regional laboratory safety program are
compliant, employees are trained where needed, and records are
organized and filed. Respond to and delegate day-to-day requests
and issues in a timely and effective manner. Plan and coordinate
with the Global Safety Engineering team, H&S Programs team, and
hardware engineers on equipment and facility related requests.
Analyze and synthesize data - create reports, dashboards, and
presentations to convey information across the organization. *Up to

Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM
field - Experience managing lab resources, equipment, and supplies
- Proficient in a broad range of tools, equipment, and lab
techniques - Master's degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical,
Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field - Experience that
includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and
effective communication abilities - Experience in written and
verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and
non-technical audiences, including senior leadership - Proven track
record of aligning stakeholders and delivering results on time

this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include
sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final
compensation will be determined based on factors including
experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers
