UW Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an RN Clinical Documentation Specialist. This individual is responsible for supporting medical staff in improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation.

SCHEDULE
Full-time day shift. The work is remote or hybrid of in office and remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Review clinical documentation, make judgments regarding the completeness and quality of that documentation, and facilitate modifications to clinical documentation through communication with physicians and practitioners, and medical records coding staff.
Ensure that pertinent patient conditions and treatments are documented such that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of acuity and service rendered to all patients using a DRG based payer (Medicare) methodology.
Verify the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting outcomes related to patient care, physician practice and the medical center performance.
Educate all members of the patient care team regarding these aspects of clinical documentation on an ongoing basis.

REQUIREMENTS Please apply only if you meet the three listed requirements below.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and training
Two years of experience in a dedicated clinical documentation improvement role
At least six years prior nursing experience in an acute inpatient hospital setting with in-depth knowledge of medical and surgical care. Three to five years of experience in a clinical documentation improvement role, knowledge of electronic medical record systems Epic, 3M 360 preferred.
