Job Title: Registered Nurse - NICU Profession: RN Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: NRP, BLS Must-Have: 2 years of NICU experience, Epic experience Description: Client will not accept any travelers with license hits dealing with diverting medications or endangerment. Submission of candidates with these hits will result in immediate contract cancellation. Epic experience is 100% required. A minimum of 2 years of NICU experience is mandatory. The level of NICU is 2, with 20 beds available. Patient-nurse ratios are 1:1 to 1:3, depending on acuity and staffing. Common diagnoses and types of patients include extremely premature/premature patients, BPD, HIE, feeding intolerance, respiratory support, and sepsis/meningitis. Experience must include ability to care for gestations down to 32 weeks or greater than 1500 grams. Knowledge of NC, HFNC, CPAP, NAVA, and conventional ventilation equipment is essential. Experience with feeding pumps is required. RNs are expected to titrate drips, including BP drugs, TPN/D10, and Insulin. Charge Nurses or House Supervisors will be present. No nurse aides are available on this unit. Neonatologists are available in-house 24/7, while ARNPs/PAs are also on-site. Respiratory therapy equipment includes HFOV, HFJV, conventional vent, CPAP, HFNC, and NC. Monitoring is conducted with the ability for nurses to read strips. Shifts consist of 3-12 hour shifts per week, with a 4-week schedule. Weekend requirements may include every weekend. Holiday requirements are possible and individualized based on scheduling needs. Staff may need to be on standby if not required. Floating requirements may include care for NICU graduates or being a 1:1 sitter for a behavioral health patient. Scrub color/dress code is royal blue. Unit-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts. The charting system used is EpicCare Inpatient - EMR. BSN is not required. Trauma level is 3. The care setting is acute.
